In all seriousness, a cheaper 20g tall than what PetsMart sells. I don't really feel like paying ~$60 after tax for a hood and a tank especially when I'm not going to use the hood.
A digital timer with the outlet on the bottom or front face instead of the side...(I'm sure I haven't looked hard enough)
A free and non-peat/etc source of soft water to my apartment...
The perfect centerpiece fish for a moderately hard water tank, that won't eat shrimps and tetras, won't jump out of an uncovered tank, and doesn't need floating plants or caves to be happy...
Two small ribbon-tail or veil-tail Fantail or Ryukin goldfish without the mixed-up (combination of Metallic and matte) sometime called Nacreous Scales (either matte or metallic is fine, but the mix just looks weird to me to have a few shiny scales here and there) either solid in color or Mottled of orange and white (or red and white) with long fins including long dorsals-- that won't eat plants or shrimp (even when they grow up).
Oh, you meant equipment. I need to build a little contraption that will let me feed my shrimp but prevent my fish from eating all of the shrimp food first.
4" long oval grommet for my 60P stand... apparently they only come in 6"?!
But most importantly, i wish there was an affordable LED light fixture for my 90G riparium that had a storm feature built-in that i could also have on a timer. It seems like all of the commercial LED fixtures have storm features that you have to turn on manually. I'd like there to be a storm in my tank every day at a certain time, or even just randomly throughout the day. I would also like to be able to somehow connect a rain system to the light storm for the ultimate rainforest effect. I'm sure it's possible but i'm not DIY-inclined... Hoppy???
And, i would also like someone to selectively-breed honeycomb catfish to be super small. Who wouldn't want a mini honeycomb?!
I wish their were higher quality rimless tanks in popular standard sizes. I know you can have them made, I wish their was a quality, reliable, off the shelf option.
a light fixture that is able to modulate the light output during the day to simulate seasonal sunrise/midday/sunrise cycles and is adjustable for par output for specific sized tanks. Would also like to see the fixture have realistic moonlight features with moon cycles.
Doc7: Those timers exist for cheap - outlets on front side and bottom. Hit up your local hardware store and LFS and you'll find both. Or order from your favorite online retailr.
Wishes:
Quality, pre-fab stands that look as fashionable as ADA products… and that don't cost $1,000.
Easier access to ADA tanks and soils
Better competition in the market(s) that ADA dominates
A way to keep dog nose prints off glass right before a photo session or visitors arrive
Cheaper LEDs so us tank nerds could sink our cash into areas other than lighting
For more Americans to discover the joys of planted aquaria. Our country would likely require less therapy and fewer mood levelers.
But the really BIG wish? I wish there was an automatic feeder that actually worked! Goodness gracious (haha, get that? that was me trying not to curse) - nothing works. Never accurate timing, never accurate amounts of food dispersed.
All the oscars I've owned over the years turned into jerks lol. Not the eating smaller fish, but attacking me when doing tank maintenence and splashing people they didnt know with a wave of water haha
How about a simple hood with enough light output to grow plants that will still give me access to the tank. Something is seriously wrong when a cheap light fixture cost 5 times as much as the tank, and I still have to cut a piece of glass to cover the tank if I don't want fish flopping around on the floor. The standard aquarium hoods are still using the same bulbs and design as they did 30 years ago.
A decent stand for a 75/90g that sits more than a couple feet off the floor. Failing that, how about the lumber and hardware with which to build my own?
Aquarium stands that don't look like "aquarium stands". I have resorted to looking for actual furniture in the antique stores to find something different.
But then you have to consider if it will actually support the big box of water.
I also like the "self replenishing checking account". If anyone finds one let us know.

also a web site that you can "build your own" stand. the nice stands that don't look like fish tank stands that i can find don't have adequate storage for a canister filter auto doser plus ferts, pressurized CO2 tank, and a power strip. i don't mind building one myself but i don't have the space to keep power tools that i would only use once an a while. not until i buy a house at least
