Anyone have any tips on cleaning out an Emperor 400 biowheel? As I suspect it is the primary source of my diatom problem, I'm planning on giving it a good bleach dip this week, probably in coordination with a tank cleaning (replacing with R/O water) and a good glass scrubbing to eliminate a good chunk of my diatom problem.
So before I do this, anyone got any specific recommendations to get the job done thoroughly?
No intention of cleaning the biowheels, just the filter casing itself. It hasn't had a good scrubbing in a year, and I suspect there is a healthy culture of diatoms living within the housing. I could be wrong, of course. I know there was plenty of green algae living on the lips the water pours down.
