We have a new Sacramento Aquatic Plants Society now!! The Sacramento Aquatic Plant Society (Sacramento, CA) - Meetup.com So far no meeting location, but suggestions welcomed. In the next few days I will find a place - wouldn't it be great if it could be at Fish Planet??
Hi guys!
I just moved to Davis from the bay area and I have no idea where I can refill my Co2 tank... Do you guys have any recommendations. I'm a student, a freshman, with a bike as his only means of transportation.
The bike thing is a killer!! A 5 pound CO2 bottle can be heavy when full, and is always very cold right after it is filled. Anyway, the only place I can recommend is in W. Sacramento, a long bike trip.
It seems that our S.A.P.S. PAR meter is hiding in someone's closet! We have lost track of where it is. Does anyone know where it is or how to locate it? Too bad there isn't an APP for that :help:
Hey Hoppy, I was wondering if SAPS as still have active meetings? I just started to get back into the planted tank arena and I was wondering if you guys are having monthly or bi-monthly meetings still. Sorry if I got your hopes up about finding the PAR meter with this post. Hope it turns up soon
There are meetings every month, it's just about whether or not people go to them. Check the SAPS calendar for the meeting days. There was one yesterday, and the next one is next month.
It is hard to keep people interested in meetings without having some kind of program each time. When we had the most consistent attendance we also had a presentation of some kind at each meeting. Arranging the meetings takes time, and eventually the one doing it just runs out of ideas and time. We are at the stage where we are waiting a "white knight" to appear, with new ideas, enthusiasm, and plenty of time.
The Sacramento Aquatic Plant Society is very dormant for now. Our meetings have been attended by 2-4 people, our website has very limited traffic, and nothing seems to change any of that. It was suggested that a Facebook page for the club might be a stimulus that can get us back on track. So, I set up one, https://www.facebook.com/sacaquaticplantssociety?ref=aymt_homepage_panel Please visit the page and "like" it, and/or suggest what would make it more effective. I don't know if any other local planted tank groups have tried this, but if you know of some, let's look at their Facebook pages to see what we might do to make ours work.
Our SAPS website seems to be down. I don't know how that works - who pays the "bills" for a website like that, etc. Does anyone else know what happened?
It looks like a lot of the meetings are near me so I'll try to make it to some meetings.
