best lighting for 75g
Hi all,
im new to planted tanks and just set up a 75 with baby tears, jungle val, watersprite, ludwigia peruensis, and purple caboma. I have eco- complete plant substrate under playsand with api root tabs and i also have seachems flourish pack, came with iron, excel and flourish. My question is lighting? Is there different spectrum of the lighting scale that are better? Worse? I would like to do a set up with 10,000k and acntic or a pinkish light would this cause problem. Are watts the same in different wave lengths, id think it makes a big difference but wanted to ask the experts before i buy the wrong lighting. Thanks in advance. If there are any other questions or concerns just ask. Thanks again |

Ok been doing more research that maybe i should have done before. I found out that plantsneed the blue and red spectrum of light (400-450nm and 650-675nm) well if this is the case could you just put blue actinic and red/pink roseate. If so would this make the tank look like pooh. Has anyone ever tried this.

Watts are a measure of energy useage, so they don't really have much to due with the light output.
Actinic bulbs wont do much for plants and look strange. Besides that, use whatever you think looks nice. I prefer a combo of around 6700k with a 10000k. It's a little on the blue side. That just a personal choice though. One T5HO bulb will give you low-med light. Two will give you med/high to high light and you'll be able to grow anything you want with pressurized co2.
