Great plant, pretty easy actually. The color is not correct. Under side does have a deep maroon red look, top is Olive green. My MTS mix is heavy with Fe. I think that does affect color.
Little Bob - I think you are seeing the undersides go the leaves in that photo.
Can lighting make Red/Maroon look Purple? Maybe.
I don't believe any light can make Olive Green look Purple. I'm pretty sure you need to start with some Red + Blue light waves for that to happen. But it's been a long time since Art 101 & Basic Photography.
Here's the almost impossible to find, new hybred the Flamingo
I think in the right soil it might actually look purple, certainly more than C. Becketti.

just because the plant appears green to you does not mean it cannont reflect more or less red and blue under certain wavelenths. pigments can do weird things i have a wavepoint red which is actually purple and it makes some of my plants look purple that are normally just red. i can change out one of my starcoats with a geisseman midday and the effect is not the same
Chad - I would if that was my plant. I took that off google image??
If you go to the Crypt Club thread on the Plant Sub-Forum a few people do have some. There was a group buy on APC But, I believe they don't ship well?
I'm not a big fan of hybrid aquarium plants But, I did Buy a Florida Subset Crypt. I have in in a pot in a Whiskey Barrel pond next to a C. Keei. They are both young plants. Interesting they both are about the same yellow-gold color.
Setup - Standard 2ft tank.
Substrate - EC enriched Flourite.
Lights - 1 x 15w Sylvania Growlux, 1 x 15w Aquastar (T8's).
While lighting does appear to enhance it a little, I have not been able to replicate these colors in any of my other setups. Crypts can be such a mystery sometimes.
Thanks for your input folks. It's been a great help.
I've tracked down and read some more descriptions of c. becketti and the consensus seems to be that lighting and other growing conditions can produce pink and purple coloration on the undersides of the plant which tend to be reddish.
Just what has been said here! Not surprising.
Just looking at that foto, it appears to me, the photo has been enhanced probably in hue and contrast to achieve a certain effect or been run to photoshop to do the same.

Little Bob - Crypts will "reach-up" for light depending on the conditions. When that happens you do see the underside.
I n proper light levels they will kay out horizontally and you rend to see only the top of the leaf.
I do recommend them they are a great Crypt, some times hard to find, not expensive, easier grow. They make a nice contrast to bright green plants.
I have them in a tank with Java terms and the two look very good together.
