Does anyone know of any good low light low tech red colored plants? Ive tried alternanthera reineckii but it slowly dies off. My java fern, anubias, amazon sword, crypts, and aponegeton are doing fine so I dont think its a fert issue. Also I'm not looking for lotuses.
Most red plants need higher light to maintain the red color. If kept in lower light, they normally go green. You might try a Ludwigia of some sort. It may stay red if its near the light source.
Alternanthera reineckii or scarlet temple has a semi red coloration to it under low/medium light, most of the redish pink is on the under side of the leaf, and the top side has a slight orangish/yellowish/brownish color to it, so not the standard green.
Mine is in a 25g with a planted+ light and a 5g with a fugeray clip light, both are pretty undemanding, though I fimd the closer to the light, the redder the new growth is
Red diamond something or other. Rare and hard to find, but is a low light red
