The title says it all.

My hc is getting eaten by hair algae and I cant overdose excel because of my shrimp.
I just want it gone!

A toothbrush to twirl at loose strands + a nice mat of elodea or h. difformis will help. Just wait it out really. One of the principles of ecology is the progression of species.

Maybe something larger than duckweed, those guys are too tough. Depending on the size of the tank: red root floaters, frogbit, or giant duckweed.

+1 on the toothbrush method. Dollar stores usually sell 8 pack no-name toothbrushes for $1+tax.
