I started trying to build my regulator myself, and immediately ran into a bunch of problems. Most of them have to do with my old Airco regulator.
Here's what it looks like. And well, I wanted to remove the valve/t-piece thing on the side because a. I don't like how it looks and b. the handle doesn't even turn. But the left gauge is in the way for me to remove it all the way. For the life of me I cannot get that gauge off. I've used all my might, clamped it down, and it won't budge. Now, because I already started to remove it, I've sacrificed the integrity of the seal and will have to put new teflon tape on so it won't leak, right? But how am I supposed to get that off if I can't remove the gauge first?
My regulator has two of these weird nut things on the front and back of the regulator. Are they relief ports or something? Do I need to get something to stop them up (they're open).
And finally, is this what threads with teflon tape put on properly should look like after being removed? i.e. with very little residue left on
