where to direct flow using eheim ecco pro 2232

i am using this filter on a 40 gallon tank (a bit small for the tank but it performs adequately). i am not overstockeing fish, only corys, otos, 3 GBR (1 died to ich), 3 honeycomb cats, and 2 or 3 other fish. i dont know where i should direct the flow of my filter to have good flow as well as not too much surface disturbance for my frogbit. i have the outflow on the back left hand corner, and the intake in the back right hand corner. right now i have the outflow aimed at about the dead center of the tank. where is the optimal placement of the filter outflow to get good circulation as well as not too much frogbit disturbance?

Don't worry too much about the frogbit. I have some serious surface ripple going on in my tank, and a whirlpool effect stirring it up, but that stuff still grows like crazy. You want to position the output so it gets the water moving in a circular motion, either around the tank like stirring a pot, or across the tank on the top and returning on the bottom. The goal is to minimize dead spots and loose crud settling on things. You may need to supplement flow with something like a Koralia. If the filtration is fine but flow is low, you can't beat them for getting a nice current going for not a whole lot of money.

thanks twotacocombo. yeah the filtration is enough but the flow is lacking. i tried to point my outflow at the direct center of my tank so that it would hit the front glass and curve around but i dont think i had much success there. i may invest in the nano korelia. i know the GPH but what does that actually translate to? like if i put it in my tank, will it just blow everything to one side? or is 240GPH not too much? if i bought one, i think i would aim it slightly up toward the center so i can have ths surface ripple as well as this whirlpool like effect.

so this is the basic schematic of where the flow is pointed in my tank with the out and in tubes. i have it pointed diagonally downwards. if i use the korelia, where should i position it? and without the korelia, is this the proper placement of the outflow?
