Drop Checker Color

I have my Co2 turn on 2 hours before lights turn on and my drop checker is a dark green. Lights turn on at 11am, by 1 or 2pm the drop checker is light green and by 3pm its yellow. Is my co2 gradually increasing or does the drop checker just take that long to register the readings. Should I have it running more then 2 hours before? I'm using a Cerge's style of reactor with canister filter.

Here is the pic I took yesterday when it was yellow.

Right before CO2 turns on, do a pH test. After CO2 turns on and the drop checker stabilizes at the final color, do another. Remember the colors/readings.

Then you can do a pH test any time you want to get a relative (and unlike the drop checker, instantaneous) idea of how fast the CO2 rises and falls in your tank, and whether you need to turn on the CO2 earlier.
