L. Aromatica not turning pink/red
Right now my L. Aromatica is about 6" away from my T5HO fixture. I run 2x54w for 8hrs a day with a 3hr burst of 3x54w from 3pm-6pm. How come it is not pink/red like Ive seen in most photos with much smaller plants that are further from the lights. Is this just a "trim the pink top, plant it, and take a photo" thing?? Am i lacking something?

Drop checker is yellow/green and I'm dosing a slightly higher version of the 40-60 gal EI schedule.

Did the Aromatica you have ever show any red/pink coloration? The reason I ask is because it seems to be quite variable, there seems to be some that will always be green and another that shows the red/purple colors.

The color varies slightly... I have an ultra purple orange broad variety that was purple when I got t once it acclimated to my lighting it got really reddish orange with purple on the underside. My lighting is a metal halide if it helps but I'm switching to led now. I'd try purchasing from someone that actually has it red

I have L. aromatica that is all green also. Doesn't really matter what you do, it's always green. Doesn't mean you can't grow it well, and it's still pinkish on the undersides of the leaves, but the top will always be green.

I've got some in a 55 gal with only a single t5ho and it's PURPLE. Like... hot pink I've got another bunch (different purchase) that are green. I think it's in the plant. My purple ones have always been purple regardless, same goes for the green

If when you bought it was redish and now is not, then I have no clue what is going on.
If its always been like that I would assume is the way the plant is as stated above by other members.

I bought some and it would not color up well. It grew really nicely, just really green. In some of my low tech tanks, I could get a bit of color by stressing it more but still not nearly what it should be. All my other red plants were very colorful.
Many people say that some plants differ. Some have speculated that their are 2 difference species. I always wanted to buy some more to test this but never got around to it when I had it.
