Fluva Flora tank questions

Hi all: I just picked up a Fluval flora kit and had some questions, which probably already addressed in some threads here, but couldn't find any.

A. The styrofoam backdrop: I understand could be removed and don't think it should be difficult and I"m assuming that it's held by silicone, which can be easily removed by rolling or scraping it off the glass?

I'm thinking of removing it to gain space - any feedback?

B. I'm thinking of getting a 25Watt heater...probably one of them slim line ones with a preset temp. Ie. Fluval Edge heater. I hope it'll be enough size of a heater.

Thanks

The background is attached with silicone and can be easily removed. I am fact some have had them pip off unintentionally taking the light and lid with it.

25 watts probably won't be enough. What are you planning to keep in there? I you could always just not have a heater.

Thanks. I was looking at the backdrop, and it just takes up so much space. In such a small tank as it is, I was thinking that the real estate is a premium. I tend to to have a few Cardinal Tetras in there along with my plants.

I'd get a 50w adjustable heater if you were going to use one.

Just watched a vid on this tank some guy had bought the tank a few months ago then the background fell off in the tank. He jut left it out for the exact reasons you have for wanting it taken out "more room".

Here's a link to the vid if you're interested in viewing it.

He has some other vids with good info also.

Thanks. It makes sense to remove it and for the other reason of one day it'll just float up, which will be a pain to re aquascaped.

There was a problem with those background coming loose and breaking the light fixture.
