Substrate Question

Im starting a tank and for the substrate i wanna use Eco complete and i understand that over time it loses it nutritional value for the plants but how long would that take before it starts to run out of nutrients.

I remember reading that it takes about 3 years.

Since it doesn't have any NPK, just some of the trace elements, it can't lose them. It is best to consider it to be an inert substrate and use fertilizers to feed the plants.
