If its really bad, then a mild bleach/water solution then soak in dechlor. For preventative maintenance, h2o2 works great also. For glass diffusers, I just put some on top of the diffuser and let ot sit there and fizz away when I'm doing a wc.

+1 on the bleach/dechlor method. I keep a 1 quart tupperware container with a 30% bleach solution in it, and I just soak my diffuser(s) when I do tank maintenance. I also keep a few extra glass diffusers on hand, so if they are really nasty I swap them out for a spare and soak them overnight. I have only used glass diffusers with a ceramic disk in them, so I am not sure if this method would be good for other types of diffusers.

I placed both in a bowl lastnight with h2o2, neither I guess cleared up by this morning.

I've read Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down pretty fast, could be why your over night soak didn't help. Here is a nice article on its uses for the aquarium: http://theaquariumwiki.com/H2O2 . It might be of help, or bleach like others have said always works for me.

Once of the reasons I switched to an inline was because of this. Cleaning can be a pain!

Bleach/water for me as well. Overnight and then a rinse. Then overnight again with Prime and water. Buy a few as spares. The are only $5 or so. I clean/swap mine every 7-10 days.

I have diffusers like the first one- I am honestly not sure if bleach will work/is safe for that second one.

I use bleach on anything easy to pull out of the tank. I use H202 or excel on anything I am not removing. Bleach works way better. If you are using H202 or Excel, you may want to get a new toothbrush and just scrub it a bit while you let it soak. It may kill the algae but not get it off the disk. Even going over it with your finger can help. With bleach, you just soak, rinse, let it sit in new water with prime and you are done. No need to scrub at all.
