Possible pregnant Molly
I'm not 100% certain when I bought these Mollies, but one of them seems to be pregnant. Her belly is very large and she is acting extremely territorial. Her overall behavior is very active and she appears healthy. The only question is because I can't remember how long I have had her for, I'm not sure if she is pregnant or not. She should be close to the end of the gestation period though, I am fairly certain I added them to the tank about 3-4 weeks ago.

Mollys are born pregnant.
They are aquarium tribbles. |

Yup. Not a better way to say it. Just get a predator fish (a dwarf cichlid) to eat all the fry as soon as they are born. It'll save you from overcrowding. Or get a netbreeder and put all the fry you find in there and dump them on the LFS when they get a little bigger. That's a real good way to get popular with the LFS people.

If you have only Mollies in the tank you don't have to worry about trying to save the babies. A few may get eaten by the adults but you'll be overrun with adult Mollies in just a few months.
I have done it over and over. I'm still doing it lol. I can't help it they're so cute. I don't know about territorial though, Mollies don't care for their babies in any way. They notice their babies about as much as they notice the other stuff they're dropping from the same area. |

My plan was to dump them on the LFS. I don't want a hundred mollies swimming around my tank, no matter how cute they end up being. As for the aggression, she is territorial or aggressive towards the other Molly in the tank. I'm not entirely sure why but she has been this way after about a week of being in the 30 gallon tank I've got. My original theory was that the water perameters were poor since they were added mid-cycle, but the levels are all perfect now and the behavior has stayed the same.

Mollys can just be aggressive sometimes. Its werid, but thats just how it is. Ive seen mollys that had to be housed alone because they would chase down and kill any other fish in the tank.

While they aren't born pregnant they get that way really fast....
They can also hold the male side of the business inside them for a good while after contact with a male.... I've had some give birth sometimes a year AFTER last contact with a male..... If you have plants and such in the tank make sure they are all good and healthy as the fry will hide in there, everytime I change my tank with java fern in it theres a ton of little babies that come out that I would of never even known were there |
