Random Emerged Question
So I have been getting into stems here of late seeing as how my love of crypts is fading fast. Most of my tanks are emerged tanks. Bought some stems of Ludwigia sp 'red' and it is doing things that none of my other stems are. The picture below explains it a little
![]() yeah you gotta love a crappy paint drawing..I should have been an artist Red = Old color of the plant and the parts that are dying and turning to mush Green = New color and parts of the plant that are not dying Brown = Roots So the big question is should I go ahead and trim off the dying parts and plant the small new growth that is growing roots? Or should I just let it keep going as it is and rot (due to some mold battles I have fought before decaying plant matter makes me really nervous)

i would leave it intact, and lay it down horizontally along the substrate.
stems propagate much better when they have more nodes to root from, and placing them lower down helps them stay moister while converting to emergent form.
