Talk about being berried!


Just noticed her tonight, it really is too bad they can't survive in freshwater.

What is it about saltwater that they need?

The "babies" are washed out to sea, where they grow up in an estuary/bay and dine on plankton and other teeny tiny food. Its not so much the salt has something they need, but their life cycle has adapted to this process and the young can't survive in fresh water.

Might be worth trying, with all those eggs you're bound to have at least a few survivors; or, at least learn a little something from it.

From the time they survive in fresh water (2-4 days), I suspect that they don't start to eat until they hit brackish water.

Well different species

My rili and cherry have green and yellow eggs. My bamboo shrimp has orange/ brown eggs
