LF nano Fish tank with similar dimensions to 12 gallon long

So I bought a 12 gallon long and I really love the dimensions of the tank. However, I'll be going to back to college this fall and I'm looking to downsize and yet retain the shape. I like the length and shallowness of the tank.

I know a 3 gallon long by deep sea exists out there, but I want something with a little more than 3 gallons, say something between 5-10 gallons.

Anyone know of a tank with such dimensions that's between 5-10 gallons?

Thanks!

Fluval Flora / ebi meet the requirements, the new larger spec is 5 gal.

They are not close to the dimensions (or relative dimensions since he wants to down size) of a 12 long.

Their are more than a few long tanks but nothing I can think of that is close to a 12 long. I like the Petco 6.6 gallon dimensions but they not that close. It's not even a glass tank but many have had great luck with it without changing any of the equipment, great buy for $35-50 with everything. ADA has the "F" that is really shallow but not nearly as long for height, plus they have a bunch more depth.

How flexible are you on the dimensions? One thing about scaling down that size is lighting is hard enough. Drop down the lighting even more and you may have trouble finding much of anything that won't be too much light at the substrate. That would be the biggest problem, IMO.

The ADA 45-F definitely provides the same sort of feel. Worth checking out for sure.

Well I'm mostly into tanks for keeping shrimp over plants so lighting isn't really a big issue for me.

The 45-F certainly looks like a viable option. Wondering if there are any not made by ADA/ADG. I try to save money where I can but I realize the "long" tanks never usually come cheap.

Yeah in my head this is what's most simlar to a 12g long by Mr. Aqua, I like the shallowness of the tank.

You may want to look up betta tanks. Not for a single betta, one that are supposed to be divided. Most of the off the shelf ones I have seen are 3 gallons with 3 sections. However, they are usually one gallon per betta in a cube shape so if you can find one for 5, it will be longer, not taller.

I rarely see these at stores in general, much less without dividers. Usually when I do, it is acrylic and custom made and the store ordered it but decided to not use it and sells it instead. I am thinking you may be able to find one online if you look hard enough, without dividers installed. I don't know if glass is a must, but even then, someone probably has it.

Sorry, just trying to rack my brain as I can't think of anything else that is readily available that has anything close to a 12 long sizing scaled down.

Haha thanks! They really should have more with those kind of proportions, I guess it would be unpopular with the general public because of the difficulties of finding lighting and filtration. But, the length and lack of height just opens up so many opportunities, especially it's great for shrimp. It's a shame that it is so unpopular with general LFS.

I'm looking at the ADA 45-F but the price is a bit steep lol......it's more expensive than my 12 gallon long and a little more than a 1/3 of the volume to boot!

I know it's no fancy rimless tank... but why not get a standard 5.5gal tank? Or a 10gal long (if you can locate one)?

Small tanks made out of acrylic are relatively inexpensive to create. So you could always have someone make one to your specifications.

lol I don't even know where to go to get a acrylic tank made on Long Island.....

but on the other hand......guess what I found out.....they make a 5 gallon version of your 3 gallon nano.

It's called the bettaplex 5 gallon on page 15 of their catalog......I googled it.......and no results lmao....but I have seen my LFS carry deep blue stuff.

I'm gonna email them on where to get one.

Unfortunately, like I mentioned in my 3gal thread, the tank you're referencing is 3 gallons in volume.

How about the petco bookshelf tank? I'm pretty sure its its the same height and width but it's only 24" long.

Yeah not a fan of the thin plastic :/

Either going for glass, or a thicker acrylic.
shooting for these dimensions
24"x12"x7"

Identical to a 60-F. If I can get it cheaper custom made for acrylic then I'm gonna go that path.....or I'm just gonna have to save up the money for it xD
