how far fish can see out of our tanks? I've noticed my angels in my 37 gallon staring at my 5 gallon that is across the room at night. I leave the 5 gallon on over night as a night-light in my living room.
Angels are pigs... if I fed mine every time they looked like they wanted to be fed I would never have time for anything else... LOL
Heck yeh though, they can see a long ways !
They make me feel guilty at times... heh
I know that "Nibbles" the pirahna can see at least 15 feet because when he sees me headed his way from the kitchen he comes to the front of the tank to beg. "Please feed me," he says, "it's been a whole two hours since the last time."
He can also see when Hamlet the cat starts stalking him. Hours of entertainment, I tell you, just waiting to be enjoyed!
In my SW tank my clown knows when it feeding time, every time I walk by the tank I get a curious look, but when I walk in the room with feeding can it goes crazy. Clowns are very smart fish.
When I come down the stairs every morning, my Keyholes are hanging in the corner of the tank watching for me (about 4 feet away). Once they spot me, they start swimming around and telling the rest of the gang that the grocery lady is coming...

My betta is the same way. He knows where his food is stored.
