I'm wanting to start up a new tank here in a bit, and I've been looking into LED lighting. The finnex ray2 seems to be a good deal, considering the PAR you get compared to other similarly priced LED fixtures. However, I've seen many people say that the red coloration gets washed out with this fixture, as it is very blue-intensive in spectrum. Thoughts?
I'm not sure blue spectrum is the best term. They have a dual 7000k fixture so greens will be emphasized vs a warmer light, say 6000k. I just bought one so I'll let you know
I have looked into getting the monster ray in conjunction with the ray 2 - however that would give me PAR out the wazoo, probably leading to massive algae problems.
What about fugeray + monster. If you need lower par check out the current satellite plus. Petco has them 30% off but only until 3pm pacific. So you better move quick. They are rgb totally controllable via remote so they can give you whatever you need
The ray2 is amazing on the greens. But everything has a very cool effect. In my opinion it makes the tank very sanitary? Hospital white looking. I'm adding a ray planted+ For a evening light and to get more even light. My ray2 is hung 18" from lowest substrate.
I'd just a planted+ if you wanted a all around good light. It is cheaper than the ray2. Along w the coupon for preorder.
