EHEIMs are very quiet, I can't hear mine when I am 3 feet away from the tank.

The 2215 was a good choice. Mine is completely silent as long as the water return is below the water level.

I had a Cascade 1000 and that sucker was LOUD! It died last night and I replaced it today with an Eheim ecco 2236. It's really quiet and super easy to setup! So far I love it!

I run two Eheim 2217s on a 90g, both of which, put together, are quieter than the HOB Aqueon I run on a 10g shrimp tank.

How about a Jebaeo. Supposedly share a factory with Eheim, and are producing great (and inexpensive) knockoffs....

... four stage filter 330 gph at $60

I don't own one, but for sixty bucks?...I'll give it a shot!

Eheim canisters are completely silent. You have to put your ear right up against the canister head to even hear anything, even then you'll only hear the sound of the water.

Just wanted to give an update that I have my 2215 setup now, and I am sufficiently impressed! This thing really puts out some water, and is super quiet! No problems, no leaks - did take a youtube video for me to get it setup though, but now that I've done it once it makes sense

Good recommendation, thanks!
