Iwagumi layout, opinions needed
Hi, Im trying to reallise my first iwagumi scape. before starting I think i've read almost the entire internet about it..but reading and having a feeling for it is somewhat different lol.
anyways, atm im stuck on this layout for a few hours and i would love some opinions from the experts. so please dont be shy to comment, should i do something different? am i missing something? Personally im in doubt of the positioning the 2 stones (the 1 right of the biggest stone and the 1 infront slidly left of the biggest stone. here are the pics, cant wait for the comments!! thanks! ![]()

How did you pay for the stones? I think the layout looks good. Glosso would be a nice foreground plant.

It would help to have the view from the front of the tank - the same view a person seeing your tank would have. Right now it looks like a collection of very nice stones with not much connecting them visually. You might want to group them together more but I cannot tell from this angle.

Put them close together and make a volcano style!!!
Can you tell me what substrate are you using in there? |

Try to get the stones to lean in the same direction. Or group them together, make them into the main focal point of the tank. It would look better imo.

Two closely formed vertical groups on each side, or one unified offcenter group. Get as much height as you can.

Have the stones lean in the same direction.
Put them a bit closer together. Leave more open space on the right and front. The front stone may be too small. The plants may hide it and then you will only have 4 visible stones. We must always see an odd number of stones. |

Do a search for Iwagumi here on this site. I looked at a lot of
Iwagumi setups. There is a certain meaning to the concept layout. It consists of a large stone and two smaller stones. One being smaller than the other. And the grouping is important. Your two smaller stones are the same size. On my setup, I made sure I had the right stones and spent over 3 hours on my setup. |

Hi, thanks for all the advise. I changed the layout and this is the result.
Im aware the second stone could be slightly bigger but sadly the perfect one whas hard to come by.
