The flourite is soo expensive (40$ for a small bag) so ill just get root tabs. Going to try out the sand today in Bubbles tank.
I have Flourite and play sand mix in my tank. I love the way the 2 blend togather. Not sure about you but Eco is dark and play sand is light, it doesn't looked that nice to me mix

Maybe, but what about fertilizer in the dirt? dont want to hurt the fish. lol, will probably turn out like this:

Me: Hose, bucket, cleaning the dirt
Dad: What are you doing?
Me: Cleanig the dirt, what else?
Dad: Not even going to ask.
Me: You dont even wanna know! ;P

Safe-T-Sorb much cheaper than Flourite and is kiln dried with high CEC. Just put some in my 40B to see how it works.

Hey there, I've got a bunch of MGOCPM tanks going and threads on all of them. Check my threads and the ones with 'dirt or soil' in the tittle is a hint LOL. Used flourite, sand, blasting media and eco complete in the various tanks. The builds all include info on what was used, how much and test results tracking parameters until the systems became completely stable. The posts thin out in the threads after things get boring.
(Never washed any dirt here )

A good guess would be that the quality control is less stringent making Safe-T-Sorb opposed to Seachems crushed brick. Do know based on posts the firing temperature is lower on absorbent products. How it holds up submerged is only a tank test away. What I tried was less dense and 'lighter' than flourite. It also 'dusted' some when stirred up even after 6 months. Once rinsed the crushed brick has been stable for me >3yrs in a couple tanks.

I will stay out of the dirt argument this time... If you are choosing between Flourite and Eco Complete, I prefer Eco complete. Flourite is extremely dusty, heavy, and has sharp edges. Eco complete is completly dust free with no rinsing and and keeps the water crystal clear during the nitrogen cycle. It is smaller and smoother, and a little more light weight than Flourite. I used Flourite for several years before switching to Eco complete, and I would never go back. On my blog I document with photos a step by step installation using Eco complete, even photographing the tank filling with water with a large amount of force and the tank water remaining crystal clear with no clouding what so ever.
