RCS Babies?
I had a berried female RCS that I assume gave birth yesterday. My coworker witnessed it but the shrimplets look like little silver fish bugs...They do not resemble shrimp. They have antennas and legs but no visible shrimp tale. Also they are floating along on my Brazilian Pennywort on top of the water. They seem to not want to submerge.
Are these shrimp or bugs? I cannot get a close enough pic, they are very small. He swears he witnessed these things coming from the shrimp. thanks. |

The shrimp babies are so tiny you can hardly see them at first. Then they grow fast and look like tiny shrimp. At first they do look like bugs.

I'm no expert, but those sound like a bug and not little shrimp. I can't help you identify the bug, but I am pretty confident that you are not describing baby RCS.

new born shrimp are hardly visible the first week. they resemble their parents but at a 1000th scale and difficult to spot. Try to take a photo for us to ID.

Baby shrimp are very very tiny and look like minature replicas of the adults. However, when they are just born they are so tiny, that they could look like tiny silverfish.
