Platy fry ? I tried some shrimp with baby swordtail and guppies a while back , they will pester the shrimp to death . And forget about ever seeing a baby . Even smaller fish will go after them if they are part of a school . And once they get an inch or so anything that move's is fair game . I know of very few store bought fish that will leave shrimp alone . Just a thought

My Plath fry are pretty small, and while I was watching the tank, whenever the shrimps came close to them, they would all scatter. But, thanks for the help.

My vote is bad stock from the LFS and stress from the first shipment. Otherwise everything is perfect. I had RCS breeding in nitrates hitting 80ppm each week in my daughter's neon "planted" tank. My tap is 7.8 and that wasn't a problem either.

Check the SnS. So many people are selling RCS. Look for Epicfish, he sells them for $1 each.

maybe find out what your gh/kh is first. the water must be lacking something and you havent disclosed how your tank water is treated or mineralized.

What is the PH in the tanks of the local store??

One hour acclimation may be too fast if they have a much lower Ph an your tank.

I always check the Ph from any bags I get, either from LFS or online purchases, and have done drip acclimations for up to 4+ hours just to watch how the shrimp are doing.

Even though the cherries are tough little shrimp sudden big changes are not good for any shrimp.

That's a brilliant idea! I never would've thought of that and now I'm going to do that every time I buy new fish or shrimp. Thanks for the tip!

I just use plain tap water with dechlorinator.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go back there today and ask them for their ph.

my first two batch of rcs didn't last too long and they eventually died because to high of nitrate and ph swing. But my last two batch they are doing very well. You'll be find especially all he good advice in here.
