Looking to buy a canister filter and get some Lilly pipes to go with it for a cleaner look on the 60p I recently got.
What's the best size Eheim for this tank, considering the pipes will be mounted on the side, to be able to give good surface agitation and water circulation throughout the tank without the need to add an extra circulation pump when I add the Co2.
Please share your thoughts. Thanks
I wasn't really happy with the classic series from eheim and if I remember right it was because they didn't have containers for the media, it was all just loose inside.
I have a couple of the Ecco Easy 60's (2234) that I am using on my 9g and on my 20L. Just set it up on the 20L and the circulation is great. Those are rated for 60g tanks I believe.
2217. I'd always want to go bigger. The flow from the eheim canisters is fairly pitiful and if you're using lily pipes you wont be blasting the substrate anyway.
My supplier gets them in tomorrow. He will have both, the 2215 and 2217.He is running a 2215 on one of the 60p's and told me that's plenty of flow and there's no need to get a 2217.
I would however like more flow and yes I'll be getting lilly pipes which are designed to put out a "gentler flow "for lack of a better word, but I'm gonna be at loss if I get the media for the 2217 then have to return the filter if it's too powerful..
I honestly don't think you need the 2217, my friend has a 2215 for his 60P, and it's already super powerful. I think with the 2217, you'll need to restrict the output valve so your tank isn't a whirlpool 24/7.
I have a hydor prime 10 for my 60p, and that is extremely powerful as well, considering it's a smaller and less powerful filter than the 2215.
Yup, going with the 2215
Thanks everyone!
Where's everyone getting their media from?
My supplier only carries the filters not the media...should I make it myself since the filter is an empty cylinder anyway?
The eheims new in box come with media. If your supplier is selling you used equipment then you need to order eheim substrat pro and all the pads from Amazon. I would double check that your filters do not come with media. Never had that before.
Thanks for that, I found the best price on kens!!
And free shipping.
EDIT: Just ordered the 2215 from Kensfish..110$ shipped
Thanks everyone!
