I'm looking into my first riparium but I'm at a dead end as far as lighting goes. I think that I want to string up some CFLs from the ceiling or set up something with a T5 light fixture. I'd also like to have the bottom descently planted. Would the CFLs or T5s be enough to light the tank as well? Or should I get a second light fixture for the tank and put it in fromt of the plants?
I would go with 3 watt led from green element I prefer the quad fixture but you can get two of the .5 watt fixtures pretty cheap and it's good lighting too. I grow high light plants such as miniature red broms and things though and want them to stay red. On ebay they are about 50 bucks and last a long time without bulb changing and good energy savings. I am not sure what size of tank you were using or I could help you with that a bit more.
