So it's been about a year since I posted here. A lot has changed in that year. Things are a lot more comfortable[if not temporary but eh]. My "baby"[the 55gal that has been with me thru everything] has grown up SOOO much.
It's a bit weirdly stocked, but eh. There's no compatibility issues & everything has grown insanely fast.
1x Fancy Goldfish
1x Pearl Gourami
1x GBR
1x blood red swordtail
1x bumble bee platy
3x dalmatian mollies
3x zebra danios[I had 10 but most have vanished ... no idea why? nothing truly kills & eats them[I've seen/removed dead ones] ... they can just waste away]
1x gold wcmm[a year ago, I lost the 5 others to columnaris, but he hung in]
3x glowlight tetras
1x neon tetra[his buddies died after 2 years of being with me]
1x harlequin rasbora
3x gold barbs
2x BN plecos
1x oto
1x featherfin catfish
1x SA bumble bee cat
1x raphael cat
1x SAE
Current plans are to probably get a couple more plants but definitely let these guys fill out & to work on the stocking of the tank[over the last ... 4 years this tank has been under my care & always a "messy" type community with like ... everything ...].
Sharpchick, Predator, the goldfish, had her own tank[well technically, she shared it with a red cherry shrimp colony from a 10 I tore down] but when it kinda ... well, failed[both of her goldfish friends over time have died] and she got sick, I decided to risk her in here and get rid of the tank. She's incredibly happy and I wouldn't move her. A lot of these fish are subtropical[as are goldfish]. My thinking is that, if they can live in 90 degree ponds, she's fine in here as it's generally a lot cooler/more stable then that.
Like I said about the schoolers, I used to have more of the same types, but they've since died off. Not sure I'm gonna even restock them.
Nope, those are the vals ... the swords are in the front right corner. As for the Co2, in this heavily stocked of a tank, I wouldn't think that's a good idea. Besides, nothing in here would really grow faster and I'm not really having any algae issues.
Duh, stupid me. I copied and pasted the wrong plant name. They look great and healthy.
I ask because when I had a light like that on my 55G with no CO2 I ran into a few problems, but I didn't have the cover or amount of plants you have, so that makes sense.
A mini update ... I moved things around and I'm SERIOUSLY happy with this tank. xD
Since I didn't really wanna create a thread for it, tho ... I also redid my 5gFBH into my 5gHex. I like the hex's filter & everything more so since my mom wanted a 5gal for her plakat so I gave up the 5gFBH.
I'll make it look better over time & of course it'll grow in ... but for now, there it is. It houses my RCS colony & the baby, my now blind in one eye[because of the dragon scale; it's called diamond eye and sadly, common] copper dragon, Pigeon[from my favorite Petco]. I've had him for 9 months, but he seems older then that.
I'm surprisingly attached to him. Not ever letting him go. xD He's not the best form wise or w/e and he's beyond skittish when you first walk up, but he's REALLY a sweet fish once he realizes everything is ok and will puff up & act cute for you. Until a shrimp scares him and the cycle repeats. xD xD
As you can tell, the stock has changed some. There's no true centerpiece fish in the tank ATM but they're in another tank just waiting to be put in here.
I think in just a couple more months, the crypts will have filled in pretty much all of what I've wanted them to fill in. They love this tank! Not as much as the 40gB but enough ... xD
Here's some of the fish from in here:
[yes, he's still alive, Ivan ... you're right, if I killed him, I'd be a TERRIBLE fish keeper xD]
And of course to add even more pics, my terrible looking reef xD/5gFBH that I'm playing favorites with right now[just ... grow java ferns ... GROWWW]:
Yep! I got him June of last year ... His name is Parang and is really epic. He, to my knowledge, completely ignores the other fish[even the two TINY banded kuhlis], and I return that by keeping him pretty well fed. Speaking of this, I reminded myself I have a picture of 2 of the kuhlis! xD
The blacks are pretty much fully grown[as compared to the 8YO black that lives with them] ... the bandeds ... I hope not. xD
The yoyo loach ... oh yeah, he loves my snails a bit too much ... he doesn't mess with Nirto, Puma or Tiger[the nerites I randomly named cuz I feel like I've had them forever] but MTS, ponds and ramshorns don't stand a chance. haha I try to scoop them out into the betta tanks when I can just because I like them. I like your snails too! They're so interesting! Especially the blue ones.
And yes, my reef has turned FOWLR but you just sparked an idea in my head. Don't need the T5s anymore. I can put on a single T8 and put in a good color bulb[for aesthetic reasons] and sell the big bad light.
Glad you like Radon too. When I saw him, I instantly had to have him. xD
