We are very pleased to announce the formation of a New Jersey’s first plant club, the New Jersey Aquatic Gardener’s Club or NJAGC (www.njagc.net).
NJAGC will promote the aquatic plant hobby by providing a group of like minded hobbyists whose practical experiences in the hobby will serve as a means of assistance and support for people who are new to the hobby and the growth of aquatic plants. NJAGC will also act as a place to exchange ideas and techniques for the more experienced hobbyists, as well as providing a means for the exchange of aquarium plants, both common and rare, between members of all levels within the club.
NJAGC plans on establishing a fairly regular schedule of meetings in the form of open houses, plant swaps, and informal gatherings at local aquarium shops. Our first meeting will be held at 7:30PM to 9:30PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. Location as well as directions will be provided upon response.
All are welcome to join the NJAGC. At this time, membership in the NJAGC is free and open to all residents of New Jersey, as well as residents of other areas willing to participate in a New Jersey based organization. All members will be entitled to invitations to NJAGC meetings and special events as well as participation in group purchases of aquatic plants, fish and invertebrates as well as other hobby related supplies. Members will also have access to the “club only” NJAGC forum.
Interested? Have questions? Please contact us by clicking here. We’ll be happy to provide further information.
The New Jersey Aquatic Gardeners Club was asked by the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township, NJ to put on a half day of instructive illustrated talks on Aquatic Gardening. It will be held on Saturday February 22, 2014. Starts at 1:00 PM We are gearing this day to the accomplished outdoor gardener that knows a lot about dirt gardening, but has never kept an aquarium or grown aquatic plants indoors. Adam of Adam's Pet Safari will be giving one of the lectures on the Basics of Setting Up an Aquarium for beginners. I will be speaking on the Basics of Plants and will tie in the similarities between aquatic and terrestrial gardening. We will have a third talk on styles of Aquatic Gardening. There will also be a 7.9 gallon Nano Tank being set up throughout the day which will be given away as a door prize to any non NJAGC attendee.
We will be having a month long photo exhibit in their Haggerty Education building along with a few digital frame presentations. We also plan on having at least one 40 Breeder Aquatic Garden set up for the month too.
There is a $5.00 admission for the day, and this is out of our control. It is a County organization, and they set the fee. Our club does not get any of the proceeds.
This is a first for our club. You are all welcome to stop by.
If anyone has been trying our site recently it is currently unavailable while some much need maintenance is under way. Please be patient and try back again soon.
I processed your request today afternoon. Please check your email and let me know if you received our membership letter. Usually the turnaround is around one or two days but due to forum maintenance we were down for a week so the registration process was on hold.
I think turn around time is about 1-2 weeks but the forum is being downgraded from VB5 after a series of issues so the team has been tied up getting things operational again. Once we come back online (hopefully over the weekend) I'll ask if your request has been received or if there are any in the queue. I'll PM you what I find out, Jerry is also our president so he'll be aware of it when he browses this thread as well.
