Right now i am just using a blue air stone. The bubbles seem to be really fine and seem to disappear befor they get to the top.

Well, I am not too certain about using an O2 airstone for CO2.
I've heard many, many people recommend against that. I never truly understood why, so therefore I won't tell you it doesn't work. Perhaps someone else can chime in, and inform us. As long as you're not getting large bubbles straight to the surface then you're all good. I am currently saving to purchase my first injected set up, but still using DIY until I can afford to do so. For a while, I set my DIY diffuser beneath the powerhead intake. The bubbles were already really small coming out of the diffuser. They'd go straight into the intake of my powerhead, be chopped up by the powerhead fan, and then shot out across the tank.
