This is my 10 gallon low tech planted tank. It has java fern, higrophila corymbosa, anubias, and a banana plant. What cheap, low light plants would look good in it?
If you're sticking with low tech/low light, you could always add more java fern (and I'd suggest drift wood to attach it to), and Cryptocoryne sp. would fill things out well.
Crypticoryne Petco seems to be a fairly small one. I got rid of mine before I
was completely sure it was full grown, but it was about 4.5" tall and perhaps
5" around. I have two 10g tanks and finding plants for them which don't outgrow
them is a challenge for sure. Crypt Petchii(e-bay) is a smaller type but likes a bit better light than say one T8 bulb on the 10g. I have one T5 bulb on the tank they are in and they slowed growth and got a new set of smaller leaves when I removed one of the two original bulbs in the fixture. But it gave lots of the plants, as well as the Petchii GSA
so one bulb had to go. No CO2 in my tanks except the one mentioned gets Excel.
Windowlov java Fern stays smaller than regular Java Fern.
Mini Bolbitus or most any "mini" except Mini Alternathera reineckii.
Google each as you look them up for the light requirements though.
If the light is actually low Dwarf Sag will stay smaller and grow slower than normal.
In a 10g, one T8 will give you GSA if left on for too long each day.
Not too much if you use 10 hrs and split it.
The tank/w the T8 has two bulbs, but on different timers so one is 9 hrs/w two hrs of off in the middle and then just after it comes back on the other bulbs does for two hrs only.
