My coralife fixture finally went kaput on me. I'm currently looking for a replacement fixture and thinking of trying an LED one. This is a new rhelm for me and would greatly appreciate some advice.
I'm currently looking at the Marineland Double Bright 24"-36" fixture. It will be sitting directly on the tank just a few inches off the water.
My lighting requirements are med-high as it is a nicely planted tank. I do dose EI and CO2 as well.
I've heard good things about finnex ray 2 series fixtures. I just got one for my 20 gallon and can't wait to see how it does. I don't know if you have seen this but this thread has a great deal of information on several current fixtures available.
I just contacted Finnex, they don't have 30" for Ray II highlight 24" version won't work unless you have a lid...I have no idea why they don't make them in 30".... fugeray is the only choice for a 30" tank....
Hmmmmm....so with a substrate depth of 2". I have to determine if the Fugeray will at least be medium light. The 29g isn't considered a "high tech" tank but does have some nice plants growing in it.
The light I'm replacing is/was a Coralife 55w model.
I should also mention that it's an open top tank as well.
Finnex, Finnex, Finnex! I have 2 (30" and 12" Fugerays) and love them. Would have gone Ray2 but I don't have Co2 injection.
Trouble free, great light and shimmer, thin & small, low power usage, great coverage, doesn't get hot.
Wouldn't even consider tubes anymore.
