i have the finnex 4g for about a month now and i have mixed feelings about it. the quality is definitely not up to par w/ the fluval ebi. i feel like the craftsmanship of this tank is a bit sloppier compared to the ebi. specifically, the glass they use is a bit thicker than the ebi and glueing together the pieces of glass is not precise. anyways, i'm trying to grow some plants in it but the water evaporates so quickly without a top! i've managed to get an extra set of plastic retainers from the fluval ebi kit that holds up the glass lid and they fit on the finnex perfectly. now i just need the actual glass top. any suggestions of an online glass company that can cut out a piece of glass with the dimensions of the finnex? i don't trust myself with a piece of glass and a glass cutter.
You don't need to get the glass online--many auto glass shops will cut custom sizes for you quite cheaply. I've even had nice bevelled table tops cut in these shops.
Yea picture/framing stores can also cut you a piece of glass. I bought a piece of clear plexi glass from Home Depot but I have yet to cut it to fit. I imagine cutting the filter and light notches will be tricky.
did anyone end up finding the lid for this online? The ebay reference led nowhere for me.
