Mysteries eating all my biofilm?

I've got 10 mysteries keeping the cycle going in my 13g until I'm ready for shrimp. It dawned on me today that they might be eating the biofilm I'm trying to build up for shrimp. What do you think? Should I remove some? If so, how many?

I feed them actual food every other day. Last night it was cucumbers. I'm thinking about kale for tomorrow.

If they aren't eating biofilm, then what are they eating when they're going around grazing on stuff?
