Well, it's been 9 months since the October "blizzard" knocked out my power for a week & I lost all of my discus but the runt. I've decided to jump back into discus again & I ordered (2) 4" Red Turqoise discus from Discus Hans USA. Hans is the US breeder for Stendker Discus in Gernmany. After a nice chat with him I ordered the fish. They arrived REALLY well packaged Saturday around noon. Hans called me directly about 20 minutes after saying he saw they had been delivered & was interested in the fishes condition. He called me again this morning to check up on them. Can't argue with that kind of customer service!
The fish are beautiful, easily the highest quality tank bred discus stock I've seen in years. As usual with shipped fish, after I acclimated & introduced them into the tank, they hid in the plants. I left the lights off all day. I was out today & when I came home they we're up front looking to be fed. Never had shipped discus do that before. They usually need at least three days in the dark just to come out of hiding, let alone eat. I already put all the lights back on & they seem almost completely used to it.
I whole heartedly recommend Hans if you're in the market for discus. His pricing & shipping was WAY below the breeders I've dealt with in the past & I've already told you how I feel about the quality.
I'll post pics as soon as I can. If you look at the 4" Red Turqoise on Hans' site, they look exactly like the picture.
