Yes, a marimo would do great. I have mine in a vase by the window. Have had it a few years. It's the size of a softball. Is that crypt still in the pot? You may want to take it out, separate it and it will give you more ground cover. Just a thought.
Will it hurt the plant if I keep it in the pot. This is my kid's tank so I really don't care about how it looks as long as it's "cute". I might get another potted crypt to put on the other side.
I have two softball sized marimo in a plastic bin on the windowsill, they pearl in the afternoon, they don't need much of anything.
