I'm curious as to what water conditions you are kept the CRS? I've been tempted to get some, though I'm still using tap water(with prime).

Congratulations on your first batch of shrimp! I have found the cherry shrimp to be very easy to care for and keep happily breeding. Mine are like roaches, I give and give them away but they are still everywhere!

well, that didnt go well. found them at the bottom twitching. grabbed them them and literally dropped in two ther tanks that i consider not the best in water quality. they actually revived. odd. the tank i took them out of is dirted. weird

I'm in Middle Tennessee too. I live in Lafayette & work in Gallatin.

I got my first 8 RCS from Critter on Sunday. They're in a 1/2 thickly planted low tech 20L with 6 rasbora, a clown plec & 3 pygmy cories.

I've been caring for freshwater fish off & on since 1993, but burned myself out on the bigger fish after a few years with discus. We have thinned down our active tanks to 1 discus tank, 1 angel tank, 2 guppy tanks & the above mentioned shrimp setup.

Since it's the wrong time of the year to consider shipping, I'm hoping to head to Pet Central in Bowling Green, KY this weekend to see if they still have any RCS, rasboras or pygmy cories in stock so I can double the quantity in the tank (after QT) with stock from another source to strengthen the bloodlines if/when they start breeding.

Anyway, hi fellow local shrimpers! I know I still have a lot to learn about proper plant & shrimp care, but at least it's cheaper to make mistakes than the thousands we spent on discus.
