Greenwater Blackout, safe for fish?

Well, after staring at thick greenwater for about two weeks I've decided to do a 5 day blackout. My question is, are my fish gunna be okay in there for 5 days? Can they find food in the dark? I have 6 Corydoras hastatus, 1 guppy, 1 oto, and 2 amanos (and some snails). It's a 10gal with lots of plants.

Another question: I've recently had some snails sneak into my tank and they've been multiplying faster than I can take them out. Is it possible that the snails are adding a significant amount to the bioload and throwing off my nitrates, triggering the greenwater? If that's the case, I need to start doing more to get rid of those, too. Any suggestions for snail removal? I've just been plucking them out as I saw them, but there are too many hiding places in there. Perhaps I'll look into making one of those snail traps.
