I meant to make this thread a long time ago, but better late than never. I think we have terrific tap water that is much better than what I read about other people having. My parameters are listed below, I am interested if anyone's deviate at all.
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate:0
PH: About 7, maybe 6.8
GH: 0
KH: 0
TDS: 37
I get a reading for phosphate, something below 1PPM.
So far, I have had decent luck keeping shrimp in our tap water by adding food grade Calcium Chloride, Epsom Salt, and Potassium Sulfate as a home made GH booster.
Em - I don't know if I would need to borrow it (since I only see you once a week - I don't want to hold it for too long) - but maybe I can bring some water into work and we can check it there. Oz
A couple years ago I got a water report from the city, was mailed to me but I never requested it. More detailed specs than what we can easily test for ourselves.
Our water is just a little too soft for them. But it is much much easier to add a little calcium and magnesium than it is to try and make water softer.
