Does Eco Complete and PFS look good?

Hi guys. I was just in the process of buying substrate for my 46 gallon. I was wondering if i could mix pool filter sand with eco complete. The reason i dont want to do all PFS is im not really fond of the white look. And i cant do all Eco complete because of the price (student budget) so i was wondering would the salt and pepper look of 50% of each substrate look good in a tank? I've read about a few people doing this and they say its looks fine. If anyone has any pictures, it would make my day if your could post them

It would wind up looking more like the top half of an ice cream sandwich instead of salt and pepper. The PFS will fall through the EC.

You could mix black blasting sand and eco complete and that would be perfect.

I would have to disagree. In my experiance, blasting sand will scratch up your tank. I wouldnt mix diff colors either... Too tacky IMO

You'll be alot happier with the overall appearance if you bite the bullet and save up for a couple months to buy the eco-complete you need. Take the extra time to plan the hardscape and plant choice. Patience will pay off.
