You don't want to use one that has fertilizer in it. I too am having trouble finding anything good

what you want to use is something like miracle gro organic potting soil, which won't have any chemical fertilizers in it. it still has all the good stuff to make your plants grow: organic material like rotted plants, chicken poo, mulch... just no chemicals which would potentially be really bad for your tank. i've seen it at walmart before, and lowe's, and pretty much anywhere else that carries gardening supplies.

I mixed in Osmocote+ so either way it wasn't going to be organic. I'm doing it to a nano bowl though.

osmocote with the soil? that sounds so ridiculously high in nutrients i'd be worried almost about algae problems or an ammonia spike...

I didn't dump it in, just sprinkled it. but you're probably right about that.

At the same time I'm not going to be putting any critter in it right off the bat.

Also, I lied about critters. I put 3 MTS snails but I heard they're near immortal heh. I might put a few more in it too. Guess you could say it's a dedicated snail tank right now lol :p

No idea about the rocks, but it was one big one.
