Where did you hear that Excel kills limpets and MRs? I have never heard this before and my google searches aren't turning up anything either.

With shrimp coming next week, I'd focus on the tank's health at this point. Assassin snails can clean up the limpet and MR problem even after your shrimp are in the tank.

I started finding empty MR shells and noticed that the limpets were gone once I started dosing Excel in the previous version of my 13g. So I'm getting it from my own personal experience. I know Excel does something harmful to snails because I put a group of nerites into a persistent vegetative state after using Excel in a tank they were in. MTS were fine in both tanks, though. But I'm finding fewer baby MTS in the 13g than when I first set it up. Odd.

Edit: I'm not sure if I'm getting the shrimp next week or if I'm going to wait til the next shrimpment to mature the tank even more.

Okay, then I suggest something else you're doing are affecting the snails and limpets. With the huge number of people who use Excel on tanks with snails, we'd definitely know it if it killed snails (especially if it killed pest snails). If you're losing snails with just normal doses of Excel, then it's not the Excel that's killing them.

I just remembered that I was ODing the tanks because of BBA. But I guess we'll find out what happens after I start my Excel and ammonia regimen.
