This is one shot of a Goldfish tank...not planted bare bottom. Plants are in pots and have been for years. anubius is attached to fake driftwood...that has been drilled to allow plecos & khulies a hiding place. Not the best pics will add more later on. This is the 60 cube. Ever couple of years I will take the potted plants and re-soil the pots. Need I say...we have very low nitrates with all the plants..if you keep goldfish you know what a problem this can be. Crypt Lutea grows out of this tank...24" cleaning crew...lots of Nerites.
Thats cool, I have a 65 gallon goldfish tank, was thinking of putting some live plants in, i have some large pebble gravel as the substrate so maybe I will try the pots.
Over the years I've tried all kinds of substrate with Goldfish....bottom line.. bare bottom. I got tired of fighting water quality. This tank the nitrates stay blow 20 & that is just prior to the once a week water change. We do 80% WC on the GF tanks. The khulies play in the pots so they get their soil thing they like. All have an ehiem 2028 & HOB aquaclears. The anubius bloom at different times of the year. This tanks will soon have LED's on top as part of it's lighting. We will see how that goes. Most are low light anyway.
