Safe rock?
Is this rock safe for aquarium use? I found it near my apartment building. I googled rock types and this looks sort of like Quartz diorite.

I put some vinegar on it and it didn't react to it. I am now boiling it for 1 hr and hopefully it will be a nice addition.

I would be a lot more worried that it had some other contaminant than limestone (which would be the part that fizzes with acid). Contaminants like oil, pesticides, or something similar. Many apartment complexes hire pest-control folks to spray for ant/roach control on a regular basis. Current insecticides are extremely toxic to fish. Some have gardeners that spray for weed control.
Boiling may not destroy organic contaminants. If you are set on using it, I recommend that you try it first on a goldfish tank with some aquatic weed to make sure. |

Well I found out that it wouldn't work in water. But not for any reason that someone might suspect or even understand. It had negative aura so in water that is amplified and the negetivity would spread throughout my room. I can't really explain it beyond that.
Thanks everyone for your advice |
