I always use spray paint. But, you can remove latex paint a lot easier if you change your mind on the color.

I use the cheapest black spray paint I can get at Walmart. .88 a can. Looks great.

Given your location I'd go for alien technology.
As to a background, consider a plastic garbage bag crunched up and taped in place with bulges and loose areas. That will give you a bit of an illusion of depth and it's removable with out using a razor blade. Light re-strike is improved over a flat coating as well. |
