What does everyone use as a root tab?

I use Seachem root tabs although I don't know if it is the best one or not. I guess it depends on your perference. I know a lot of people use the jobe spikes with success and the added bonus of cost.

I just have a mixture of one bag of flourite and a cup of laterite mixed with regular gravel.

Default Plant Guild Kit -- roll my own

I got a Plantguild Kit and make my own, plus I use AP PlantTabs sometimes. I found the original formula was better with the PlantGuild kit. The second time I used Osmocote and added some K2SO4 (just out of the blue I dropped this in) and had problems with swords, maybe not related, though.

I'm shocked (but mostly curious) why more people don't use jobes. THey are great and dirt cheap. The only concern regarding jobes i think is, is that they are too easy to abuse. THey contain P, urea, and K so you have to dose very carefully. But if your tank i well established and running ok, then these are simply the cheapest best way to go.
just my opinion

I voted other because I buy my root tabs from off-ice from another forum. He makes them up.

They are simply not available in my area and I was tired of looking for them. They have the plain house plants but not the desired Lush ferns.

I use Jobe's and Seachem Root Tabs under heavy root feeders. This way you cover both macro and micros.

LIke Tee, I get my root tabs from Off-ice, but also recently picked up a kit that'll allow me to make my own, just like he does.

I use Manutec spikes, similar to Jobes, but also contain traces.

I'm using the overly price flourish tabs at the moment. They do a great job though for me so I guess I can't complain. I know someone had a link to a place that you could get jobes ferns from but I seemed to have misplaced that. Wouldn't mind saving money in the long run.. Of course I'm too lazy to make up my own sticks like off-ice, malkore, and the others.. One of these days I might break down and start making my own though.

Jobe's apparently makes or has made an aquatic plant spike (see http://www.absoluteponds.com/aquatic-plant-soil.htm), but 8-24-8 seems like a lot of P for an aquarium (algae bloom, anyone?). Their fern and palm spikes are 16-2-6.

Those spikes might not be so bad if it's a huge pond.
