o_O I thought I posted this just now, but it didn't show up. Anyway, isn't a buffer something that reduces pH change, not actually change it?

It's just used to "bump" a topic back to the top, so people will be more likely to see it. Don't worry, you'll pick this stuff up quickly. It wasn't long ago that I was really confused by all this as well

Niche- The role an organism plays in its environment (aquarium in this case). eg: algae eater, bottom dweller, etc.
