Stocking question

Do you think this would be an ok stocking for a 20 gal high.

5 cardinal tetras, lrg
3-4 threadfin rainbows lrg
1 African butterfly fish small

i plan to scape the tank with a large paraie like portion in the front, with a forrest look at the back of the tank. ill try to post a drawing of it.

I would not put an African Butterfly Fish into a 20gal high, they get pretty large and deserve a bit more surface area. Even though they don't move around that much, they can get spooked and will surely smash there little heads in a small tank like this. Plus your large cardinals and threadfins could become snack if they happen to come up for air or food.

+1 A 20L would be a better choice for the African butterfly, and I'd stick with larger bottom-dwellers (like Cories) as tankmates.

how about a 20 long?

The theme i am trying to simulate with this tank is "the American prairie" i plan to have a bunch or moss and other low lying plants. so i was wanting the butterfly fish to simulate the hawk or eagle, while the other fish would simulate the other animals living on the prairie. would red and turquoise rainbows or larger tetras be better. i also plan to have a community of amano shrimp present to represent prairie dogs lol....
