Are Silver Dollars safe for a planted tank?

Are Silver Dollars safe for a planted tank?

I have 3 4-5 inch silver dollars.

I have had them for 8 years. Will they be okay in a planted tank? Or will they munch on all the plants?

They will munch from my experience. There are certain plants they wont eat, but your selection of plants is greatly limited by thier presence.

Oh well.. I love these guys.. I've grown them from the size of a nickel!

Sounds like a good reason to set up ANOTHER tank..

from what i have rea the lower tech plants tend to be in less danger so like java moss, java ferns are ok sometimes. just get a load of cuttings and see which they wont eat.

Silver Dollars are pretty serious plant eaters, but you could try something really tough - maybe float some hornwort and see......

Yes, pics please! I love Silver dollars too.
