96w pc vs 2x39w T5 HO


im planning to grow red stem plants in my 36"x18"x16" 40 gallon breeder tank and some glosso carpet
i know that red ones are the most light demanding
need some help deciding the fixture
as in the article should i chose 2xsingle 96w pc or 2xdouble strip 36" glo T5 HO

Read this thread: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/li...igh-light.html, then decide what you need for light. Both of the options you mentioned is too much light.

first thanks for the reply
i have read the thread and i understand that its about u can still grow plants with low lights with less care less trim and slow growing well balanced tank
but i also read other people experiments with low light and they say glosso tends to grow vertically
im a beginner in the hobby could u give me a specific brand and wattage

I'm running 1x96w PC over my 40g breeder and feel I could grow just about anything. Matter of fact i gotta trim plants every 1.5-2wks. I dont have glosso but have HM and it carpets very good. Also have L.Aromatica, A. Renekii and the reds do well.

too much light?? how so??
ive run about 2x more light than that and things grow great. foreground grows nice and tight to the substrate, plants grow fast. you just need to make sure your co2 stays in the right ranges.
